About Me

Fort Myers, FL. (GINA TOMLINSON)--A versatile storyteller who shoots video, writes, edits and reports on a daily basis.

Tomlinson is living her dream of being a reporter in the state she's always hoped to end up. Currently a reporter at Wink News, Tomlinson covers a wide variety of stories; from breaking news and exclusives to features and weather-related events. When the water crisis hit in 2018, Tomlinson was one of the lead reporters on the beaches bringing Southwest Florida the latest as toxic algae and bad red tide plagued our waterways. Tomlinson is expected to meet deadlines, generate story ideas, maintain and update social media outlets, get involved with the community and produce news worthy content at creative angles.

Before Wink News, Tomlinson worked at WXXV in Gulfport, Mississippi. There, she was a reporter and fill-in anchor after leaving her hometown in Michigan with only a couple hundred dollars and a goal. When Hurricane Nate hit the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 2017, Tomlinson gave live reports all night, during the Gulfport station's first tropical storm wall-to-wall coverage. During Tomlinson's 2.5 years at WXXV, one of her interviews exposed a criminal and reopened an investigation for a victim's family.

Tomlinson is a proud graduate of Central Michigan University--where she earned her bachelor's degree, majoring in broadcasting arts and double-minoring in sports and journalism. There, Tomlinson was a part of CMU's award-winning student news team, sports show and radio station.  She has worked for the University's Sports Central Show as a multimedia journalist, anchored for CMU's radio station, and acted in multiple student-made productions.

When Tomlinson isn't digging for stories, she's most likely at the beach. She loves to hike, run, kayak, practice yoga, bike and crush up Oreo cookies to make ice cream taste better. Tomlinson enjoys seeing the positive in the given situation and isn't afraid to take a risk.
